There may be an opportunity to hike many other OHV trails, off season, to expand the options and add diversity? It has many popular attractions, including Two Rivers Heritage Museum, Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife. The Nancy Russell Lookout is approximately 2.5 miles in, going up through wooded forests, then crossing a country road and meadow. Unfortunately, Capital State Forest is a somewhat long drive, but can be done in a short day due to the Hwy driving speeds. Both of these trails are great for winter hiking due to their low altitudes. I don't know if you've been to Capital State Forest, near Olympia, but many of their trails are spitting images of Jones Creek. We're going to have to check it out again, soon. ![]() My wife and I completed the trail, but never got around to doing it over. You know, I haven't been to the Wilson River trail very much in the past couple of years, and forgot what much of it looks like. If you’re out in this are exploring, check out Mt Pleasant road off of Canyon Creek Road on the way back to WA 14, or the old section of Salmon Falls Road, just off the intersection of Canyon Creek, Salmon Falls road, and Ryan Tavelli Road. You can take the WRR to the Washougal River Mercantile store, and turn south to return to WA 14, or head further up the WRR to where the pavement ends, then turn around and have fun coming back the other way. Watch for people drifting over the centerline on this road, and in nice weather, watch out for people looking for places to pull off the road for recreation. Things start to get fun right after you leave the city limits. Continue north on 17th, and it will turn in to the WRR. There is an AM/PM gas station after you turn north, and then a 76 station after you go over the bridge over the train tracks. Discover the natural wonders of this charming town, from its scenic waterfalls to breathtaking viewpoints, and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. To get there, you turn North off of WA 14 at 15th street in Washougal. From beautiful hiking trails to thrilling river activities, Washougal, Washington offers a plethora of fun and exciting things to do. This is also a dangerous road, with many minor accidents each year, and more than it’s fair share of fatalities. Hopefully when you get there, traffic will be light. There is also something here to make the trip a little less fun: lots of traffic. It has great pavement, twisty sections, tight blind corners, and a beautiful river to travel next to. The WRR is one of the best motorcycle roads in Clark County.
